Melba Tatum is a Licensed Clinical Worker-Supervisor, Licensed Chemical Dependence Counselor, Certified Anger Resolution Therapist and Attention Deficit Hyperactive Diagnosis- Certified Clinical Service Provider.
She obtained her Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree from Grambling State University, Grambling Louisiana. Master of Social Work graduate degree from Smith College, School of Social Work, located in Northampton Massachusetts. Interned experience at Emory University‘s George Mental Health Institute and Family Service Agency, both in Atlanta, George.
Ms. Tatum has more than 30 years of clinical experience. She have worked with children, teens, couples, groups and families with various mental health diagnoses such as Adjustment disorders, depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, Bipolar disorder, LGBTQ, abuse, relationship problems, etc. She has done adoption and foster care studies/licensing and psychotherapy services. She has provided brief and long term therapy using the following treatment modalities: cognitive (CBT) therapy, client –centered, behavioral modification, anger/stress management and psychoanalytic. She has worked closely with teachers, psychiatrists to provide mental health consultation/s. Ms. Tatum has extensive training and expertise in the field of ADHD. Worked in various settings: in-patient, out-patient, intensive setting, EAP, School-based clinics as well as in the private sector as an independent psychotherapist. She has supervised therapist and has experience in crisis management, utilization review and health care management.
Ms. Tatum has developed numerous mental health presentations and educational blogs for the school district website including themes on Parenting Tidbits, Emotional Well-Being and ADHD.
